Textile Prints in Motion

HOSOO Textiles and SOOOUL

This project reimagines traditional print design by bringing textiles to life through motion. In partnership with renowned textile house HOSOO and SOOOUL’s HAKO—a platform merging traditional craft with AI and interactive technology—we developed a series of animated prints rendered onto flowing digital fabrics.

Inspired by organic phenomena such as cell divisions, bioluminescent waves, and natural topographies, each textile was designed as a seamless loop, evoking the movement of chiffon and refractive acrylic. These motion prints function as living surfaces, merging heritage, code, and contemporary expression into dynamic visual narratives.

The work debuted as part of Yohaku, an immersive, experiential installation held at Japan House Los Angeles, inviting visitors to explore the intersection of textile innovation, sensory storytelling, and cultural preservation in real time.

Between Craft, Art, and Technology

We debuted our motion textile collaboration at YOHÁKU: Between Craft, Art, and Technology, an immersive installation at Japan House Los Angeles. In partnership with HOSOO Textiles and SOOOUL, the work reimagined centuries-old weaving traditions as animated digital fabrics—looped visuals inspired by cell divisions, bioluminescence, and topography. The experience welcomed over 150 guests, including curators, collectors, and creative leaders from institutions and brands such as LACMA, Netflix, Marvel, and Disney—reflecting a growing global interest in the intersection of heritage and emerging technology. With contributions from the GO-ON Collective, known as the “Kyoto Six,” the installation bridged traditional craft with contemporary storytelling.
